Brotte Vieux Marc Barville 2007
VARIETIES : Grenache
YIELD : 350 litres per vintage
NUMBER OF BOTTLES : 650 b.
HISTORY AND VINEYARD :
This Châteauneuf-du-Pape grape pomace brandy is of excellent quality. After careful distillation in copper pot-stills, grape promace is patiently aged in oak barrels previously used for producing cognac.
Power, character and finesse characterise this nectar which reveal fruity, vanilla and toasted flavours.
Its name « Barville » is a tribute to the Barville ancestors of the Brotte family of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION :
We select marc of Grenache of Châteauneuf-du-Pape of the highest quality. The latter is distilled in an old copper alambic still. This allows the development of the fruity aromas. The resultant eau-de-vie is matured for a minimum of five years in mature oak barrels previously used for ageing Cognac, to develop its toasty notes and complexity, as well as its roundness.
"Generous and Round"
Colour – Brilliant amber.
Nose – Strong fruity aromas (raisin, date) with toasted notes, aromas of vanilla and chocolate.
Palate – Flavours of candied fruit, peach, pear and vanilla intermingled with blond tobacco leaf express a harmony between power and finesse. The softness of the tannins increases the already exceptional length. This marc is a pleasure to drink either chilled or at room temperature.
FOOD AND WINE MATCHING :
Best served between 16 and 18 °C.
A perfect match to a cigar for the amateurs, a "café viennois" for the gourmets or simply as a digestive at the end of a great meal!
