HISTORY AND VINEYARD :
“Secret Barville, the secret know-how of the Brotte family of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, descendants of Barville line.”
Wishing to create a wine that is both complex and powerful, we have selected three of the best Châteauneuf-du-Pape vineyard sites. At the west of the village, ‘Beaurenard’, with its clay and limestone, develops the freshness of Syrah. At the southeast, “Panisse” and “Bois-Dauphin”, with their sandy soils (covered with pebbles for the latter) develops the finesse of Grenache and Mourvèdre. This wine of great character is the result of a unique collaboration of winegrowers, aiming at revealing an exceptional personality and quality which express fully the terroirs.

VINIFICATION AND MATURATION :
Sustainable viticulture, de-budding, de-leafing and green harvest to limit the yield and increase the quality. Hand harvesting in small 12 kg cases to avoid berries’ crushing. De-stemming and sorting with viniclean.  Natural fermentation and maceration of around 4 weeks. Cap plunging carried out manually (no pump). The juices are funneled in French oak barrels (one wine barrels), where they age 18 months. The wine is bottled by gravity without filtration.

TASTING NOTES:
« Outstandingly Silky »
Colour – Ruby tinged with purple highlights.
Nose – Supreme finesse, with hints of warm spices, black fruits (cassis, blackberry, cherry) along with roasted notes and red peppercorns.
Palate – Elegant with forest fruits dominating the front palate. Unctuous mouthfeel underlined by vanilla tones and supple tannins. Exceptional length promises great ageing potential.

FOOD AND WINE MATCHING :
Serve at 17 °C. Open 4 hours in advance.
Enjoy with the finest “foie gras” with truffles, chicken stew with black olives, a platter of strong cheeses or with a chocolate mousse.

VINTAGE : 2016 : An exceptional year. The reds are aromatic, powerful, round, fine and balanced, while the whites display freshness, unctuosity, full body and great length. 2015 : An excellent vintage. The wines have very long ageing capacity, or can be enjoyed as of today. Very well balanced, fruity, flavoursome wines, with noticeable fine tannins for the reds, spicy and aniseed finales for the whites. 2012 : Red wines display nice deep colours. They are balanced, fruity, round and unctuous. Whites are fresh, full bodied, to enjoy in their youth.
